As with all types of investment, there are several types of risk associated with investing with Buy2LetCars. We take these very seriously, and always take the time to ensure our clients understand these risks, so they can make investment decisions that best reflect their personal risk appetite.
By doing this, our clients are able to reduce their risk while increasing their ability to reach their financial and investment objectives. Please note that nothing on this website, including the information about risks below, constitutes financial advice. You may wish to seek your own advice from an Independent Financial Adviser before you invest. Please also refer to our FAQs page for additional information.
Our website contains information about the projected returns, based on the interest that end-users are required to pay as part of the car hire fees on the vehicle you fund with your investment. If the end-user fails to make these payments, then the actual returns paid to you may be lower than expected. However, we take steps to ensure that the end-users continue with their payments, including fitting Smart Telematics and Tracking to every vehicle, meaning if a payment is not made, the vehicle will be immobilised. If this occurs, the vehicle will be recovered and passed on to a new end-user. Please refer to our FAQs for more information about this process.
Investing using Buy2LetCars is a three year investment, meaning you will not be able to exit your investment before the expiry of this three year term. We recommend carefully considering the amount that you would like to invest, and also consider whether you will need access to this money within the next three years. Any investment you make with Buy2LetCars is illiquid, meaning it cannot be sold on to anyone else in order to release your money.
It is widely accepted that investments should be diversified across a number of different investment classes. The investment opportunities offered by Buy2LetCars are three year investments, so it may be advisable that you invest your money in other more liquid investments as well. In particular, it may be advisable to invest the majority of your disposable assets in liquid investments which you are able to access more easily. We recommend speaking with your financial advisor to determine how best your investment portfolio is diversified.
As with every investment, you are placing your money at risk with the aim of having that risk pay off, and you leave with more money than you invested. Buy2LetCars is no different, and while we take steps to make our investment opportunities more watertight, no investment can ever be 100% safe from this risk. If in the event that an end-user ceased paying their fees, and Buy2LetCars were unable to rent to a new end-user (this situation has never occurred before) we would seek to sell the vehicle as a means of returning your money to you. If the amount realised from the sale is less than you invested, we will make up any shortfall to this amount, up to 85% the amount you invested.
Any investment you make with Buy2LetCars involves you giving day to day control over your investment to our teams of investment managers. This arrangement is different to some other investment types, which may allow investors to control their investments, the length of time they hold them and other key decisions. Our specialists will make decisions on your behalf, and will attempt to ensure that you receive the returns you are expecting.
It is your responsibility to make sure that you are aware of any tax obligations or risks that might apply to you as a result of an investment with Buy2LetCars. We advise that you consult with an appropriately qualified tax adviser about your individual tax position. Your tax position will depend on your individual circumstances and may be subject to change in the future.
Any investment you make with Buy2LetCars is not covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS). Further information about the FSCS, eligibility and how individuals may be able to claim is available at their website, or by calling free on 0800 678 1100.
